We took a day trip to the northernmost part of Lake Biwa to enjoy swimming and a BBQ!

On August 31 (Sunday), we enjoyed a fun one-day trip to Lake Biwa, where we spent the day swimming and having a delicious barbecue together!

Sunny Beach, located at the northern tip of Lake Biwa, is a well-maintained swimming area with clear water and excellent facilities.

We started by setting up the barbecue grills and putting up the tarps.
The weather was perfectly clear, making it a truly refreshing and enjoyable day.

We had fun playing in the lake with water guns and beach balls.
Everyone let their inner child out, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and laughter. 🌊🎈💦

For the barbecue, we grilled Japanese beef, chicken, vegetables, sausages, and even large pancakes.
Eating barbecue in the midst of such fresh, clean air was simply the best! 🍖🥦🥩🌭☀️

On the way back, we took the Saba Kaidō (Mackerel Road).
We stopped along the way to drink from a natural spring — the same fresh water that merchants long ago must have also enjoyed.

The Saba Kaidō is an old trade route that connected the port town of Obama on the Sea of Japan to Kyoto. It was famously used to transport mackerel and other seafood inland, often carried on foot by merchants. Thanks to its vital role in commerce and culture, the route is still remembered today as a historic path that supported everyday life in Japan. 🐟⛰️🚶‍♂️
